Identity Crisis and Protest: A General Analysis of Folk Songs

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the underneath truth behind folk songs while going through a particular genre. There are songs created by various artists based on different occasions. In certain context, it can be identified as songs which represent protests against the problems, the creators are facing directly or indirectly. It can be identified that popular spoken forms have different texts in different periods and locations. A few examples are quoted from the Dravidian language family, Malayalam to clarify the assumed.
