Verbum, a peer reviewed multilingual multidisciplinary journal, is a collaborative academic venture of the language departments and the journalism department of Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous), Thiruvananthapuram. The name means “word” in Latin and it indicates journal’s interest in probing the minute aspects of meaning making, either through the domain of literature and culture or that of Media Studies. The journal’s academic vision is informed by the insights of Comparative Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies. It therefore seeks to provide a scholarly forum for the study of non-Anglophone literatures and cultures in addition to studying literatures and media cultures from the English-speaking world. The journal accepts submissions in all the languages taught in Mar Ivanios College: English, French, Malayalam, Hindi, Syriac, and Tamil.
Verbum is an interdisciplinary multilingual open access peer reviewed e-journal and it publishes two issues per year. Submissions can be made throughout the year and those contributions that are recommended for publication by the referees will be included in the subsequent issue. We welcome papers relating to any aspect of literature/culture/media studies.
